East London’s festive playground is back for a second year, filling a corner of Victoria Park with dancing, eating, laughing, drinking, skating and plenty more besides. New for Winterville 2015 is ‘The Winter Night Garden’, an enchanted forest that’ll host film screenings of Christmas classics such as ‘The Muppet Christmas Carol’, ‘Love Actually’, ‘Home Alone’ and ‘Elf’ (plus a few evergreen features such as ‘Jurassic Park’). Plonk Crazy Golf are also joining the fun, bringing a nine-hole putting challenge that will feature snow drifts, ice beasts and foggy valleys to avoid.

A circus featuring performers from The Moscow State Circus and African Whirlwind will offer aerial acrobatics and daredevil tricks and the beautiful wood-panelled, mirrored spiegeltent will once again host pantomimes, comedy, cabaret and live music (such as the James Yorkston Christmas show) as well as fun-packed club nights. Already confirmed are Old Dirty Brasstards, Guilty Pleasures, Bugged Out’s Little Bugger, Shit-faced Shakespeare and Indeedy Musical Bingo.

A heated, indoor kids area will feature a cafĂ©, soft play area and market, as well as the chance to visit Father Christmas in Santa’s Grotto. Bizarre Bazaar return with their charming Victorian-themed market and Pop Shop will provide an Andy Warhol-inspired shopping experience. A heated food hall will host street food from the likes of Mother Clucker, Crabbieshack, Smokestak and plenty more and Bar Humbug will be serving real ale, mulled wine, hot chocolate and anything else you’d like to quench your thirst with. Plus, of course, the 600-square-metre ice rink and fairground, which this year has gained a 35-metre tall big wheel.

Entry is free but tickets for the circus, spiegeltent, cinema, crazy golf and ice rink vary in price, and booking is recommended.
